What was your most expensive car repair??

I would like to know from other users what was their most expensive car repair till date?? Please mention seperately if it was paid by insurance and not from your pocket. But I would be more intrested in knowing about those who paid from their own pocket.
Im just curious enough because my mechanic gave me a big estimate, so I want to make myself comfortable by figuring out that its just not me but many have gone through this.

By the way can you tell me how much it would be labour + parts if I need to replace a Master cylinder for my 1998 ford escort lx, 4dr, rear drums w/o abs.

It seems every time I take a car to the shop it is $500.00. My most expensive was on an old Jaguar and I wanted special components. $1800.

A brake job can run from $300 to $500.

Car bodywork repair. Can you offer some advice please?

I have a lovely little Pergeot 206, 7 years old with 7,000 miles only on the clock. I have treated it with lots of love since buying it new and it still looks like new. I put it in the garage when not in use and never leave it on the road side. Some not so caring drivers have opened their car doors and bumped my precious car leaving two nasty dimples in the passenger side door. This happened in a car park and, of course, they are never there when you get back to your car. What’s the best, cheapest way, to sort these dimples out. The paintwork is not broken. Will this cost a lot? Thanks!

To be honest it’s not worth having it done.

The car is 7 years old so any prospective buyer should expect a couple of small marks.

No matter how much care you give your car you just cannot stop these marks being there (apart from not using it!)

Where I can find how to repair car step-by-step video online?

I would like to repair some simple problems of car myself. I want to know any website that can show me the step by step repair.

Thank you
-Daniel

Get a repair manual from your dealer or from a local auto parts store. It’s much easier to flip book pages while working under the car.

best body shop to repair car?

Hi, I just bought a brand new Toyota RAV4 and someone has already crashed into me! I don’t know anyone in the body shop repair business. Should I have it fixed by the Dealer, or a body shop the other person’s insurance recommends?

hard to day which one is better, would go to the dealers work shop.
