I am having a bitch of a time trying to find an auto repair manual for my car. Are there websites where you can download the manuals for free?
not that I know of. for specific repairs sometime you can find at the auto-zone web site under repairs. Or try your local library.
Car repair vs write off?
Nov 29
I wonder if anyone has any advice. My 12 month old Honda was involved in a heavy frontal impact (60kmh), car turned in front of me, not my fault. Car was purchased $34,000 last year, repairs will be about $18,000. The insurance assessor wants to repair the car. He states the damage is only cosmetic and not structural. I am concerned there is structural damage from such a heavy impact. My policy states if car written off it needs to be replaced with new car. I am worried this car will not be the same after a repair. Honda also state that my new car warranty will not be valid now it is involved in a frontal impact.
What evidence do I need to prove that it should be a write off? obviously the crash repairer is biased because they want to repair it for their own income, the insurer wants it repaired because it is cheaper than replacing it with new car.
I think I need to get legal advice but I would appreciate anyones suggestions how I go about making a case to get the car replaced.
Thank you for the feedback.
Yes it is Australia … $=Aus and kmh should be kph.
I received a tip from an engineer today stating I should get a copy of Honda manufacturers recommended repair procedure & make sure the crash repair procedure follows the Australian safety guidelines.
As far as the remainder of the new car warranty goes, my honda dealer stated they will not cover any repaired parts under warranty and any other part failures in the future could be attributed to the collision.
In the USA, when cost to repair a vehicle reaches or exceeds about 70% of "fair market value", the vehicle will be "totaled". Cars can be fixed like new nowadays so except for your warranty,(I’ve never heard of a car company refusing to honor their warranty just because the car was in an accident) I wouldn’t be concerned. Evidence needed? I suppose you need a statement or 2 from some car "experts" saying the car can’t be put back into the same safe condition it was in before the crash and a statement from Honda stating they will not honor the warranty might do the trick.
Are you in Australia ? ( $ and KPH)
someone broke into my car and broke my passenger side window. i have a Suzuki Grand Vitara and i was wondering how much should i expect it to be because i dont wanna get taken for a ride haha
Danira K, I had similar problems last month and was glad I got my repairs covered under my extended warranty. extended warranties are cheaper if you don’t buy them from the manufacturer. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Warranty-Quote.html
