Your insurance will still be high. Insurance covers the vehicle not the driver. Since YOUR vehicle was involved in a collision accident your insurance will increase. There’s no way around that. Now you’ll need to contact the claims department and advise them that it was not you driving the vehicle. They need to have the correct driver listed. This should remove the points from your license.

Car accident and insurance claim?
My wife has learner’s permit and when she was driving she hit a tree. Damage is around 2500 dollars. My insurance covered me all that. But they have increased the premium more than 50% for this year. They have also noted as if the accident was committed by me. they have reported to NC DMV and i got points as well.
Do you think my premium wouldn’t have raised if i go and report that the accident was committed by my wife when she was learning. Can I still go ahead and remove the point from my driving history.
